We must recognise that today’s society does nothing to help us remain calm in the face of our offspring’s quarrels. Today everything is articulated as if the family without conflict were the absolute ideal to be achieved. And yet this family model based on total consensus is nothing but a myth, and also a very dangerous one. The truth is that the fraternal bond cannot do without hostility or even hatred. Preventing these feelings, which are a priori negative, from being expressed with total freedom in the fraternal relationship also means preventing love and complicity between brothers from being born.
